Pasta with Personality

Awhile back I bought some fun shaped pasta from the Pasta Shoppe.
Tonight we finally pulled some out.

I had put it all in a cupboard and forgot about it. I can't believe I forgot about such fun!
I better get the snowmen pasta out before Spring officially gets here.
Gavin pulled up his chair to help out. He also took pictures.
He's getting extremely good at measuring himself. Before, I would measure and he would pour.
Now it's all him.
Even the milk.
(as I watch in anxiety picturing the gallon hitting the floor and running under the fridge and my kitchen smelling like curdled milk like when I find a sippy cup from last week in his fort)

No really, he does an excellent job and I encourage it.
(The pouring, not the imagined disaster.)
Pigs, roosters, cows and barns.

You want to know how good it was? He ate all of it and left his hotdogs.
He left his HOTDOGS!
Mmmmmm, THAT good :)

Valentine Bear

Getting started on our Valentine window.
We've had the snowflakes and snowman up long enough.
They brought snow for a day and then it disappeared. After the unseasonably high temperatures the last week, we no longer want snow to come, so it's high time to get the snow spell out of our window!

Love is supposed to be in the air this month, so we are going with hearts.
Hugs have been amazing this month as well.
So a huggy lovey heart bear is just perfect!
(Gavin picked out the exact pom-poms I was hoping he would for the nose!!)
 Love!
Hoping to complete a couple more projects by the weekend to create a fun, love filled, February window. <3

The Letter H

H is for house.

The Letter G

G is for Gavin. There was no debate on this one.
I have no idea what those two green things are under his lips.
They weren't optional.

Trying not to lose our marbles

Quite literally.

Tonight was hard. I've had a temperature for two days and feel less than human. I pushed through knowing that if I could just get to Friday evening, Daddy would be home and I could crash.
The stars had other plans. Daddy is not making it home, possibly at all this weekend and Grandma and Grandpa are out of town. So now, not only do I have to break my son's heart and explain to him that I lied was wrong and Daddy won't be here tonight, I get to step it up 5 notches and create fun for him to make up for it....while my brain feels like it's pounding out through my eyes and ears.

Obviously, I went for easy and thought about his favorite things.
Painting and cooking.

We painted with marbles.
A simple activity that would allow Gavin to have some fun, and me to merely sit and observe.

He globbed some paint onto a paper plate.

 Then dipped some marbles.

 Then shook away.

Easy clean up--paper plates in the trash and pan in the dishwasher.

A favorite food is hotdogs. I don't have the energy to concoct anything fancy.
I should mention that I blew a fuse in the kitchen this morning, so we don't have a microwave either.
I HAVE to COOK something.
A box of Jiffy mix, a little honey and a sliced up hotdog sounds cuisine, doesn't it?

Gavin gets to mix ingredients. I don't have to do anything but slice a hotdog.
And we both watch the timer tick down 18 minutes to dinner.

They may or may not have looked like this....
(I would have taken a picture, but my camera died)

Cartoons, books and cuddles on the couch ended this evening successfully.
With all of our marbles.

**Grandpa Buzz and Grandma Kathy made a stop over tonight and fixed my kitchen**
Thank You!!

A little reminiscing

Facebook introduced this new timeline change.
Not sure I like it.
But if not for the change, I never would have come across this first birthday gem sent to me by my cousin in Georgia. I laughed then...and I'm laughing at it again.

(No, I'm not spraying the cake off him with the hose.  What kind of mother do you think I am.
I'm adjusting the hose that is spraying well behind him.)
