Trick-or-treat

Thanks for coming over, Grandpa!

Fun times in the office

I just love Halloween!
No parties this year. No time either.

So I was excited to dress up for work today!
(even if majority of people didn't "get" my costume)

Back complete with wings and stinger :)

If you still don't "get" it, think of the 1995 made for TV, "Thriller" directed by Rockne S. O'Bannon.

Someone has been eating my candy

Gavin: "Mommy, someone has been eating my candy!"

Me: "Uh Oh. Why do you say that?"

Gavin: "Look, look at all these wrappers."

Me: "Are you sure it wasn't you?"

Gavin: "Yep."

Me: "Do you think Mommy was eating your candy?"

Gavin: "Nope."

Me: "Well, who do you think it could be?"

Gavin: "I think...(long pause)... that a giant bunny rabbit sneaks into our house while we are at school and eats it."

Alrighty then. It's the bunny.
I'm thinking this giant rabbit is going to have a giant stomach ache.
I also think he favors tootsie rolls.
Let's put the wrappers in the trash, not back in the bag next time, Mr. Rabbit.

Big Boats

One day back in AUGUST, while I was working, Grandma and Grandpa took Gavin down to Toledo Harbor for Navy Week. I'm pretty heartsick that I wasn't able to join them.

Since I wasn't there, I don't have anything to say about it.
So, just enjoy the pics.

Pull her in, Bub!
Oh, boy.

Maybe next year I'll get to go...

Rossford Halloween Parade

My favorite parade of the year. I've been going since I was a wee one.
Actually when I was close to Gavin's age, I was IN the parade every year with Owens.
Owens drove an old firetruck through town, and I was privileged to ride on the back and throw candy to the crowd.

Nearly 30 years later, I still love it, but with a new appreciation.
My neighbor Wade and I talked about making a float one year...Maybe next year??
He's really creative! I need to go speak with him.

While this year we didn't bring friends with us, it was perfect because we ended up landing a spot right next to one of Gavin's best buddies!
Rumbling with Grandpa before the parade begins.
Kyle has the picture face down pat.
Thanks for spotting us, Wade. And giving the boys a full size candy bar BEFORE the parade starts.

Parade time!
The favorite came first...
Did you actually question what it would be?
There is really no need for trick or treat after attending this parade.
It did look a little like rain....Sandy, the super storm, isn't due to hit until tomorrow though.
These cars are always fun to watch. Always.
Been cooler if they were passing out pizza. Or even coupons.
We like pizza.
Another great outing. Much less crowded than last couple years...the cold maybe? Who knows. More candy for these guys, I guess :) I'm not complaining.
Until next year, Rossford. Keep up the great work.

McQueens

I have been slacking on this here blog...BIG time. I mean, three posts in a month....really?
Get back on it, Megan.

We went to McQueens a few weekends ago and I completely forgot to post anything about it.
In my defense...there has been a lot going on.

So here's the pictures I do have from our outing.

Before the apple picking we stopped at Flower Hospital to walk for ALS.
We ended up only doing one lap around the campus because Gavin would periodically every five feet, stop to look at flowers, rocks, nuts, twigs...etc. And pick them up. At one point causing a very large man to fall on his face tripping over him. Sorry, mister! Glad you were okay.

Gavin: You simply cannot stop in the middle of the path when there are hundreds of people following. You just can't do that.
Moving right along to apple time!
We went for the Red Delicious, as always. Everyone else did as well. We had to walk forever to find some trees with apples on them. Majority were picked clean!

Grandma and Grandpa joined and we split a half bushel.

"Hey guys, I'll carry the apples!"

Whoops...

That's okay!
Mommy and Grandpa will carry them teamwork style.
They were actually very heavy.

I suppose it's unfair to make Gavin wear his hat, when I myself, had removed mine. But I was getting hot.
It's was pretty chill out, so if little man had intentions of playing up front...he was going to wear it.

 I win. He wore it.
So, bring on the bounce houses, pony ride and animal feeding.
The boy loves riding ponies and horses.

Fitting for the event, no?

Patiently waiting his turn with his ticket.

This year, he didn't launch his cone over the rail and actually let the animals eat from him.
Getting braver in his old age.
