Gavin has started soccer!
I wish I would have known about this place sooner! Gold Medal Indoor Sports is located right behind Meijer on Rt 20. They offer child development programs starting at age 18 months called Lil' Kickers. We are beginning our adventure in the Thumpers (ages 25-30 months) class. Although he is already 31 months, this is the best class for him being a first-timer. The class is parents and kids, led by a coach. They play organized games together to develop listening skills, balance, ball skills, and foot-eye coordination.
First things first...everybody s-t-r-e-t-c-h!
(or sit and pout because Daddy set you down)

This is only Gavin's second day and he did much better than week one. It did take him a few minutes to warm up and get involved, but I think every week is going to be an improvement. That's why we are here, right?
We sit and balance on squishy balls and then move on to laying across them for balance.
This is kinda tough for the tots.
But next we get to kick the squishy balls through hoops!
Now this is fun stuff!
Today was also "bring a friend" for free day. Recognize Miss Pressly in purple.
She loved it as well! We hope to see her join real soon.
Water break.
G's favorite: The obstacle course.
Kids run and jump over foam noodles and then kick two balls into a goal.
..but not before making sure they are straight.
Next game is called Shark. All the kids have a rubber "dot" that they place on the ground to sit on. For the game, they pick them up and use them as steering wheels (for their boats) and run around until coach yells SHARK. Then they need to drop their "dots" and jump on them to "get into their boats" before the shark gets them. The running around part is a big success. The stop and jump in your boat parts has only proven successful for about half the class....so far. We have ten weeks to go.
Sideline pep talk from Daddy.
Everyone loves parachute time at the end.
We shake it...
Then we "make popcorn" by bouncing balls out of the center.
Then they also get under it and then on top of it for a circle ride powered by the parents.
All hands in.
GOOOO THUMPERS!!!
And my favorite picture of the week:
