ABC eggs

We are cruising right along with our letter recognition and since Easter is approaching, I knew instantly that I wanted to create this project/game when I stumbled across it.

It is a hit!
We have only been working on capital letters with our ABC book, but he does recognize several lower case letters as well. I'm pretty impressed!
I picked up a bag of plastic eggs at Rite-Aid for two bucks and put the capital letter on the top half and lowercase on the bottom.
The eggs are pretty flimsy, but what did I expect for two dollars.
(came in a 36 pack)
This flimsiness is helping us with our patience. We have to align the parts perfectly before we can push the egg together. Otherwise they slide into each other and make us mad.
Then we toss them in his basket.

And of course have some silly fun while we are at it :)

I love you day

It's a real day.
 Gavin told me so.
He explained it when he carried a sticker over and placed it right in the middle of my t-shirt. He said, " This sticker is for you, Mommy. It's because it's I love you, day!" How sweet is this little boy of mine. Some days I simply cannot stand it.

It may have been a sticker off a banana that he wanted as a snack before dinner. But it was the thought, right?

So after dinner, I decided to indulge in a little token for him for "I love you day."
We baked up some delicious Lightning McQueen cookies.

Cookies at 7:30 PM on a school night?
Yah....I'd say I love this little boy, alright.

8 minutes later...
One for each hand because earlier he completely made my day :)

Monster Jam!

Or better described as, "Little Boy Heaven!"
Gavin had a fantastic time watching the monster trucks!
They did wheelies and jumped cars, raced and did freestyle.
And much to my surprise, he wore his headphones the entire time....and never complained.

Look at that attention.

Clapping for his favorites!
After intermission there was a special visitor.
Megasaurus made it's first appearance in Toledo!

The doors open and what appeared to be a zamboni machine came rolling out.
But then it went all transformer-like and the top opened up and this fire-breathing Dinosaur emerged.
A fire-breathing, car eating, Dinosaur.
It ate that car right in half and spit it out!
Awesome.
He was in awe.
Second half he finally sat down.
But he kept on cheering :)
At one point this teeny tiny little smart car came out. With a JET ENGINE!
It revved and revved. I seriously was waiting for it to propel itself into space.
But it didn't. It fumed up the place and then left. Slowly.
I was happy that it turned into a great experience.
Even I had fun!
And we needed a fun day.
I've learned that Monster Jam also comes to Toledo Speedway.
So you bet your bottom dollar I'll be keeping my eyes out for when they do!

Monster Trucks OUTSIDE sounds even MORE exciting!
With more room to go CrAzY!!

Fresh Beat Band Concert

To go or not to go...

This was a dilemma I had for a few months leading up to the day.

I already had the tickets for the show. I bought them presale in November. I considered them to be a Christmas gift.We love watching the Fresh Beat Band.

Then, all of a sudden, Gavin wasn't much into them anymore. He moved on to Little Einsteins, Jake and the Never Land Pirates, and Mickey's Clubhouse. A completely different CHANNEL! Only to soon after discover that the tickets I purchased started going for more than triple what I paid for them. TRIPLE!! And the show was still two months away. It was sold out everywhere. I know, because I looked. They added in a show in Sandusky which would have been PERFECT since my brother lives there. But it sold out quickly as well. Probably would have been a challenge to get tickets and then sell the Detroit ones I had. Who knows. It's a little bit crazy how popular they have become.

We went.
And we made it to Detroit....just in time.
Got to see the tour buses.
 And found our seats.
 Any minute now.....
The Fresh Beat Band take the stage!

 Marina, Kiki, Shout, and Twist.
He wasn't in a dancing mood. But he paid attention the first half.
Then I got him the promised glow wand.
That after attaining an attitude, ended up with a chunk out of the top. I told him not to keep throwing dropping it on the  ground. But he just wouldn't listen.
After that, he was ready to go.
But we stayed until the end. The show was about an hour and half.
It was full of songs and LOTS of little kids (mostly girls) dancing in the their seats, the aisles, and down in front.
Soon as I gave up and slid my camera back into my bag, they launched confetti out.
Naturally that got Gavin's attention again....for a minute.
As an encore, they threw out 4 huge beach balls.
Yes, I got to hit one.
Gavin didn't. He cried.
But he was pretty much whining about everything at this moment.
He conked out immediately once the car hit the freeway.

Thanks for coming to town, Fresh Beats.
Gavin wasn't quite ready for a dance show.
Or perhaps he wasn't in the mood (past nap time, long car ride and no lunch) or maybe dance shows just aren't his thing.
Once home he talked about all the fun he had and that FBB is his favorite. Say what?? Had me fooled with that attitude, kiddo.

Overall....
They really did put on a great show for kids! Cute and simple.

Tomorrow......Monster Jam 2012!!
